Rise of the Primarch

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve made a proper post here, and I think it’s about time to step things up a bit.

Getting this blog up and running has been one of my main goals, and while I have everything set up and working nicely, I’ve struggled to add content. There are many reasons and excuses, but life does get in the way of progress. Some of this is my own fault, through lack of resistance when it comes to buying new things, to jumping from one project to another and never getting anything finished (which doesn’t help when you keep buying new things..). But there is also the issue of time, which is my biggest issue. The lack of free time I have to get any hobby done is where I fall short of achieving my goals. These two things alone are some of the issues I am actively tackling (or trying to tackle). And one of the solutions is not buying new things all the time!

To help me move forward and make some progress, I have set in place a goal for myself, for the year. It is not a ‘new years resolution’ however, from January I decided to make a goal of completing at least one unit per month. This doesn’t have to be completely from start to finish (as I have lot’s of unfinished projects) but must be a unit of any type finished and painted fully. And by “unit” I literally mean in game terms. So this can be an independent character, a squad, or a vehicle etc. So far this is going as planned. I have a fully painted drop pod for January, and a Death Company chaplain for February. I also tried to sneak in an assault squad for February to go with the drop pod, but unfortunately ran out of time. I will get some proper pictures up of all three units once I finished the assault squad, which should be by the end of this week.

Which brings me to my next project, and the return of Robute Guilliman. Yes, I will attempt to make the Ultramarines Primarch my project for March. But wait, what happened to ‘not buying new things’? Yeah, well.. this is a Primarch. And the first loyal Primarch to appear in 40k. So exceptions have been made.

Triumvirate of the Primarch

Whilst I’ve been keeping a close eye on the events of the Gathering Storm, I’ve been a good boy and kept my wallet in my pocket until now. There have been some very nice models released with the first two parts, and believe me, I’d like all of them, but I thought about it sensibly and focused on my Blood Angels instead. After all, I don’t have any Mechanicus, Sisters of Battle, or Eldar. And I can’t exactly play any battles in the books with nothing to use! And before anyone thinks ‘hang on, you don’t have Ultramarines, Grey Knights, or Fallen Dark Angels’, like I said, I’ve made an exception with this box. As a fan of the Imperium, you can’t really say no to Robute Guilliman, Cypher, and the newly appointed Grand Master of the Grey Knights all in one box. Oh, and I do actually have quite a large collection of Ultramarines from a very long time ago, but that’s another story.

Anyway, that’s it for now. I will get some pictures up soon with everything I’ve been working on recently, and then I’ll try my hardest to get some blog posts up as I work on Guilliman. There are so many things I want to do and get up on here, but I really have to manage my time carefully, which I feel I’ve been doing a lot better with since I started thinking realistically and focusing on this unit per month challenge.
